Banki, a small beautiful town situated in the bank of river Mahanadi in the district of Cuttack. It is famous for the Goddess Charchika Temple which is located in the centre of the town. It is also a Sub-Divisional Head Quarter and there is a Sub-Divisional Medical situated in the heart of the city. Banki was declared as Notified Area Council by Govt. of Odisha vide H& UD Deptt. Notification no. 10258/L&G dt. 11.07.1966 and started functioning with effect from dt. 01.08.1966. The boundary of NAC covers Similipur G.P at East, Ramachandrapur G.P at West, River Mahanadi at North and Gopalpur G.P at South. The Local Body comprises of a total area of 6.22 Sq. Km. having 7 nos. of revenue villages which are further divided into 17 nos. of Wards. The total population of this NAC as per 2011 Census is 17,494 out of which 9173 are male and 8321 are female |
